NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R1 is H, halogen, OH, lower alkyl, etc.; R2 is H, lower alkyl, or acyl; R3 is alkylene or lower alkenylene; X is O, S, SO, or SO2), its derivative at the carboxyl group, or their salts.
EXAMPLE: 2-[2-Hydroxy-3-(o-tolyloxy)phenyl]acetic acid.
USE: Antiphlogistic, analgesic and antipyretic agent. Administered in the form of tablet, injection, suppository, etc. in doses of usually 10W500mg, 1W4 times daily.
PROCESS: The compound of formula III or its salt is prepared by the hydrolysis of the compound of formula II or its salt. As an alternative method, the compound of formula V or its salt is obtained by treating the compound of formula IV with an alkali metal cyanide in the presence of ammonia, and hydrolyzing the resulting nitrile compound.
