NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I (R1 is H or aralkyl; R2 and R3 are H or lower alkyl) and its salt.
EXAMPLE: 3-N-5'-O-Dibenzyl-1'-dimethylphosphonomethyl-β-D-ribofuranosyluracil.
USE: An inhibitor against biosynthesis of nucleic acid, useful as a carcinostatic agent or an antiviral agent.
PREPARATION: An aldehyde shown by the formula III or IV (R4 is protecting group or aralkyl; R5 is protecting group; R8 is lower alkyl) or an aldehyde equivalent compound is reacted with a dialkyl phosphite shown by the formula V (R6 is lower alkyl) in the presence of a base, then, the OH group of a saccharide at 1'-position is converted into an active thioester, reduced and deprotected, or converted into the active thioester, reduced, deprotected and further dealkylated.
