Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photo battery which can accumulate light energy by photolysis of water as the electrochemical energy.
SOLUTION: A pair of electrodes 2, 3 are arranged, of which the electrode 2 is composed of a matter which can photolyze water and a matter which can have atoms or molecules inserted and the electrode 3, is composed of a matter which can have atoms and molecules inserted. Light is irradiated from a light source 8 on the electrode 2 with the both electrodes 2, 3 in electrically connected state, which enables the both electrodes 2, 3 to store oxygen atoms and hydrogen atoms generated by photolysis of water, whereby a photo battery is constituted.
