Abstract:

To provide a photocatalyst composite capable of selectively removing a harmful substance and having a stable removing effect over a long period of time.

Titanium dioxide being a photocatalytic substance having photocatalytic activity and an n-octyl group being an organic group are fixed to the surfaces of pores of a silica porous body. By this constitution, molecules of the harmful substance interact with the n-octyl group on the surfaces of pores to be adsorbed selectively and the silica porous body concentrated in the pores of the silica porous body is decomposed by the photocatalytic reaction of titanium dioxide. Accordingly, even a very small amount of the harmful substance can be effectively removed.
