Abstract:
To provide a hydrogen generation capacity-improved photocatalytic material capable of exerting high photocatalytic activity under visible-light irradiation, that is, capable of highly efficiently photo-decomposing water.SOLUTION: A photocatalytic material 100 comprises a substrate 90 and a photocatalyst layer 70 fixed thereon, where the photocatalyst layer includes: a first visible light responding-type photocatalyst particle 10 for generating hydrogen; a second visible light responding-type photocatalyst particle 20 for generating oxygen; and a conductive particle 40 provided between the first photocatalyst particle and the second photocatalyst particle, and capable of storing an electron and a positive hole having a Fermi level at a position more negative than an electron energy level of the upper end of a valence band of the first photocatalyst particle, and a position more positive than an electron energy level of the lower end of a conduction band of the second photocatalyst particle. The conductive particle includes an antimony-doped tin oxide (ATO) particle where the work function of ATO is larger than 5.1 eV, and the free electron absorbance of the photocatalyst layer at a wave length of 2,400 nm is larger than 3.7% and smaller than 55%.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
