Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL: A spiro-oxazepin-oxazine compound of formula I (X is N, CH; R is H, a 1-5C alkyl optionally-substituted by 1-5 halogens, 1-5C alkoxy, 1-5C carboxyalkyl, CN, 2-5C alkenyl, phenyl, benzyl; R1-R12 are each H, a 1-5C alkyl 2-5C alkenyl, benzyl, halogen, OH, 1-5C alkoxy, NH2, mono- or di-1-5C alkylamino, COOH, CN, NO2 or the like).

EXAMPLE: 10-Methyl-spiro-dibenzo[b,f]-1,4-oxazepine-11,3'[11H]naphtho-(2,1-b)-(1,4- oxazine).

USE: To give photochromatic and thermochromatic properties to a polymer organic material. High fatigue strength and high deterioration resistance can be kept even at a temperature remarkably higher than a room temperature.

PROCESS: For example, a nitroso derivative of formula II is reacted with a compound of formula III, to form the compound of the formula I in which X is N.
