To obtain a photoconductive image-forming member used in electrophotographic prints and organic solar batteries by using an asymmetrical perylene dimer as a change former.
An asymmetrical perylene dimer represented by formula I (R is H, a (substituted)alkyl, a cycloalkyl, a (substituted)aryl or a (substituted) aralkyl; X-Y is the asymmetrical crosslinked part of a (substituted)alkylene or a (substituted)aralkylene is used a change former. In further detail, the member is composed of for example a light-forming layer containing an asymmetrical perylene bisimide dimer dispersed in a resin binder and a change transport layer containing a charge transfer molecule dispersed in a resin binder. The asymmetrical perylene dimer is obtained by reacting desirably at least 2 pts.wt. perylenemonoimide anhydride of formula II with an asymmetrical diamine in a high-boiling solvent, such as N-methylpyrrolidine and washing the product with a high-temperature solvent to remove the residual initiator component and other by-products.
