To provide a photographic processing apparatus in which processes such as development, bleaching, fixing and cleaning are carried out by introducing a photosensitive material such as photographic paper into tanks and immersing the material in process liquids and the process time is reduced by applying ultrasonic waves, and in particular, to prevent peeling at an edge portion of the photosensitive material by the ultrasonic waves.
While a photographic paper sheet RB does not pass, ultrasonic vibrators 82 are not driven as shown in Fig 14(a). When a lead end RBS is detected by a timing sensor 88, the vibrators are in a stand-by mode from that timing until the lead end RBS passes over the ultrasonic vibrators 82; and when the sheet passes, ultrasonic vibrators in a group G1 corresponding to the width of the photographic paper sheet RB are driven as shown in Fig 14(b). Further, when the photographic paper sheet RB is conveyed and the rear end RBE is detected, the entire ultrasonic vibrators are stopped at the detection timing as shown in Fig 14(c). Consequently, ultrasonic irradiation to the edge portion of the photographic paper sheet RB can be eliminated.
