PURPOSE: To enhance storage stability under high temp. and high humidity by incorporating a specified phenolic cyan coupler and a specified noncoloring phenolic compd. in a silver halide emulsion layer, and adding the noncoloring phenolic compd. to a layer adjacent to this emulsion layer.
CONSTITUTION: A cyan coupler is represented by formula I in which R1 is aryl or heterocyclic; R2 is a ballasting group; and X is H or a group capable of being released by the coupling reaction with the oxidation product of an aromatic primary amine developing agent. A noncoloring phenolic compd. is represented by formula II in which R3 is 1W20C straight or branched alkyl; R4 is same as R3 or cycloalkyl, and the total C number of R3 and R4 is 6W24; and n is 0W3. A silver halide photosensitive material especially excellent in the graininess of a cyan image and nonfaded during a bleach fixing process can be obtained by incorporating a combination of the coupler of formula I and the compd. of formula IIin a silver halide emulsion layer and adding said compd. in a nonphotosensitive layer adjacent to this emulsion layer.
