PURPOSE: To obtain a recorded image corresponding to heat and light by incorporating capsules contg. a vinyl compd., a photopolymn. initiator, and a moiety of a couple of components causing color development reaction; and the other moiety of the components reacting with said former moiety to develop color in the same side of a substrate.
CONSTITUTION: A vinyl compd. contained in capsules incorporated in the present recording material is polymerized by exposure, and a color forming component in the exposed capsules cannot permeate the capsules to ooze out of them even when heated, and the color forming components present in the outside of the capsules cannot permeate them into the core, while in the unexposed parts alone, color is developed by heating. On the other hand, when this material is heated before exposure, the color forming component in the core of the capsules permeates the capsule walls to ooze out of them, or that in the outside of the capsules permeates them into the core to develop color in the heated zone, and further, color development of the noncolored zone can be prevented by uniform exposure. As the vinyl compd. of this material, a compd. having at least one vinyl or vinylidene group is usable, and as the photopolymn. initiator, a sole org. or inorg. compd. or a combination of them is used, and as the color development reaction, a coupling reaction and a reaction using a leuco dye are used.
