PURPOSE: To reduce the picture processing time, by delaying a picture signal subject to horizontal correction at each horizontal scanning section and converting the signal into a vertical sweep signal with a recorder having (N+1)-set of recording heads for attaining vertical correction.

CONSTITUTION: A picture signal taking consecutive M-line horizontal sweep signal as one frame is applied to a picture processing filter 12 via a horizontal frequency separating device 10 for attaining horizontal correction. The signal corrected and processed is applied to a delay device 20 to delay the (i)-th line signal by (i-1)T/N, where T is the horizontal sweep period. An output of the delay device 20 is applied to a signal switching circuit 22 to lead out sequentially to output terminals 1∼N+1 at each T and the output is recorded on a video disc 23. In reproducing the signal from the video disc 23 from a reproducer head, the N-line vertical sweep signal consecutive timewise is obtained and the vertical correction is attained with a picture processing filter.
