Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture read device capable of shortening the read time of the picture of an original and a method for controlling the picture read device and a storage medium.
SOLUTION: The height of a reading band is calculated based on the resolution, the main scanning direction picture read width of an original 401, and the available memory capacity of a scan buffer memory 600. When the calculated reading band height is shorter than the maximum reading band height H, the calculated reading band height is selected, and when the calculated reading band height is larger than the maximum reading band height H, the maximum reading band height H is selected as sub-scanning direction length when a scanner cartridge 200 reads the picture of the original 401 by one scanning.
