Abstract:
To achieve further low friction at an initial stage when a use of a piston ring starts.SOLUTION: A piston ring 1 includes an annular body part 2 having an inner peripheral surface 2c and an outer peripheral surface 2d and a side surface 2a and a side surface 2b which are substantially orthogonal to the inner peripheral surface 2c. The piston ring 1 includes: a first curved surface 21 which curves in a protruding shape toward the radial outer side of the body part 2 at the side surface 2a side of the outer peripheral surface 2d; a second curved surface 22 which curves in a protruding shape to the radial outer side of the body part 2 at the side surface 2b side of the outer peripheral surface 2d; and an intermediate surface 23 which extends along a direction in which the side surface 2a and the side surface 2b are connected so as to connect the first curved surface 21 with the second curved surface 22. The intermediate surface 23 has a flat part 23a in at least a part thereof. A width of the intermediate surface 23 along a width direction A ranges from 0.05 mm to 0.30 mm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
