Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston which is improved in ignitability to an air-fuel mixture and combustion stability.SOLUTION: A piston is arranged in an engine having a spark plug which is arranged in the vicinity of a cylinder center axis, an intake port and an exhaust port which are arranged with the spark plug sandwiched therebetween, and an injector which is arranged while being offset to the intake port side with respect to the spark plug, and injects a plurality of fuel sprays toward a crown face of the piston. The piston has a recess 160 which is formed by recessing the crown face with respect to the other portion, external peripheral edges 162, 163 and 164 of the recess have steps with respect to other portions 150, 110 and 130 of the crown face over the whole periphery, and the piston has a pair of sides 164 which are formed so as to be substantially parallel with a linear line which connects the injector and the spark plug when viewed from a cylinder axial line direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
