Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct pixel defect without lowering resolution by extracting an image signal, that becomes the same color component among pixel information outputted from a solid-state image pickup device of the entire pixels reading system and comparing the pixel information of a noted pixel in the extracted pixel signal with pixel information of pixels, other than the noted pixel to discriminate pixel defects in the noted pixel.
SOLUTION: When CCD signals are inputted through lines La0 to La2, each delay element T10 to T21 delays a CCD signal to be inputted by one pixel each, and outputs it. A maximum value C1H of the CCD signals of six pixels is obtained in such a manner that selection circuits 24, 27, 29, 25 and 26 select the CCD signals of pixels (b), (d), (f), (j), (l) and (n), which exist around a pixel (h) and have the same color components as those of the pixel (h) in order to discriminate white flaws in the pixel (h). It is discriminated that white flaw is produced in the pixel (h), when the value of the C1H is subtracted from the value Ch of a CCD signal in the pixel (h) and the result exceeds the prescribed threshold.
