PURPOSE:To make pressure and stress distribution uniform by forming the outer periphery of an outer ring inscribed in the inner periphery of a planetary roller with pressing force in such a manner that a portion contacting the planetary roller is tapered in the axial direction. CONSTITUTION:Cylindrical or stepped cylindrical planetary rollers 2, 2' are positioned and retained at distances of equal angled round an input shaft 1 by a retainer 3. An outer ring 4' is integral with a casing, and an outer ring 5' is integral with an output shaft. These are shrunk to generate pressing force between the outer rings 4', 5' and the planetary rollers 2, 2' and between the planetary rollers 2, 2' and the input shaft. In this arrangement, the outer peripheries of the outer rings 4', 5' are formed in such a manner that portions thereof contacting the planetary rollers 2, 2' are tapered in the axial direction. Accordingly, t the contact portions of the outer rings 4', 5', and the planetary rollers 2, 2', pressure distribution and stress distribution are uniform in the axial direction and stress concentration will not be caused at the contact surface so that the contact portions are hard to wear away so as to lengthen the life.
