Title:
PLANT HAVING MODIFIED STAMEN CELL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3727492
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a male sterility plant having excellent disease resistance and environmental suitability, useful for producing a hybrid seed by including a specific adventitious DNA in the whole cell nuclear genome.
SOLUTION: This male sterility plant has an adventitious DNA in the whole cell nuclear genome. The adventitious DNA is (i) a male sterility DNA capable of perishing or paralyzing a stamen cell and preventing the production of a fertile male gamete when expressed in the stamen cell of the male sterility plant (e.g. potato or the like) and contains (ii) a first promoter such as TA29 gene promoter or the like selectively inducing gene expression in the stamen cell of the plant in which the male sterility DNA exists in the same transcriptional unit of the first promoter and is under the control of the unit with the proviso that in the case of the first promoter being a promoter for selectively expressing the male sterility DNA in a microspore and/or a pollen cell, a plant cell nuclear genome is a homozygote. The plant can be transformed with Agrobacterium.
