To provide a plasma display panel driving device and the like capable of preventing the damage of a driving circuit.
The plasma display panel driving device is equipped with a reset pulse generating circuit 22 which sets a plurality of discharge cells simultaneously at light emitting cells or non-light emitting cells and an address driver 31 which selects the discharge cells to be made to generate selective discharges from among the discharge cells set at the light emitting cells or the non-light emitting cells by the reset pulse generating circuit 22. The driving device is equipped with a protection circuit 50 which detects the abnormal current of the reset pulse generating circuit 22. The reset pulse generating circuit 22 is provided with a first resistor R21 in which electric current flows when outputting a reset pulse and the protection circuit 50 detects the abnormal current flowing through the resistor R21.
