PURPOSE: To prevent the decomposition of plastic at molding temp., by compounding specific porous silica, specific alcohol and an org. solvent with an erasing material based on a vinyl chloride resin or a thermoplastic elastomer.
CONSTITUTION: 5W20pts.wt. of porous silica having a peak value at a pore size of 40 or more in pore size distribution and a specific surface area of 200m2/g or more, and 10W30pts.wt. of alcohol having a b.p. of 180°C or more or an org. solvent having two or more kinds of functional groups one of which is an oxygen-containing functional group are compounded with a vinyl chloride resin or thermoplastic elastomer type erasing material. As alcohol, benzyl alcohol and 1,3-butane diol are used and, as the org. solvent, 2-phenoxy ethanol and diethylene glycol are used. The plastic eraser is obtained by a method wherein porous silica and, for example, benzyl alcohol in this compounded composition are mixed and dispersed by a high speed stirrer and, for example, the vinyl chloride resin and a plasticizer are added to the resulting mixture to be sufficiently mixed and dispersed by the high speed stirrer while the obtained composition is poured in a mold and heated, for example, at 115W125°C for 40W90min to be gelled.
