Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the leading and trailing edges of plates from being punched through by detecting the leading and trailing edges of the plates with sensors and correcting the feeding rate of the plate with a numerical controller, thereby making the quantity of a material to be punched through small.
CONSTITUTION: The leading and trailing edges of the plate 36 are detected with the sensors 80, 82 and the sensors 84, 86, and a deviation of an actual plate length from a desired plate length is determined. For example, if the length of the plate 36 is shorter than the desired length, a first feeding device 22 makes the plate 36 sufficiently move forward into a punch 10 then the numerical controller assures that a web remains at the leading edge of the plate 36 in the first punching step, whereby a defective blank is not generated. Accordingly, the numerical controller uses the deviation of the actual plate length from the desired one, computes correcting value and corrects the feeding of the plate, thereby preventing defective blank from being generated.
