Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of a pneumatic radial tire when a vehicle runs while the tire was punctured without worsening the steering stable performance and riding comfortableness performance by providing a crescent-shaped side reinforcing layer over a whole region of both side parts along an inner face of a carcass ply and setting the thickness of a cross section of a specific section of this side reinforcing layer to the maximum value.
SOLUTION: A run flat tire has a carcass ply 2 which is wound around a bead core 1 and is moored to a bead part. In this case, a crescent-shaped side reinforcing layer 5 is provided over a whole region of both side parts along an inner face of the carcass ply 2. The thickness of a cross section of the side reinforcing layer 5 in the vicinity of 1/3 point C on an outer side in the radial direction when periphery of an inner side of the tire of the side reinforcing layer 5 is divided into three equal parts is set to the maximum value. Furthermore, it is preferable that the thickness T of the cross section of the side reinforcing layer 5 at 1/3 point C is 1.8 to 2.8 times the thickness t of a cross section of the side reinforcing layer 5 at l/3 point B on an inner side in the radial direction. Consequently, if is possible to improve the durability of the tire when a vehicle runs while the tire is punctured.
