To solve the problem that the case where a block pattern is applied to a tread has made a degradation in a tread stiffness and/or increase in a negative ratio, which denotes a groove ratio in a tread surface area, unavoidable, entailing a degradation of a wear resistant performance.
The pneumatic tire includes: tire-circumferential grooves 12 that open on the tread surface 11a; and tire-across-the-width grooves 13 that position tire-radially inside the bottoms 12a of the tire-circumferential grooves 12 and open on the tread surface 11a with exhaust of the tire-circumferential grooves 12 due to wear of the tread 11. The tire-circumferential grooves 12 and the tire-across-the-width grooves 13 have overlap portions 14 where the grooves 12 and the grooves 13 mutually overlap in the tire-radial direction.
