A pneumatic tire having a carcass and a belt reinforcing structure is disclosed. The carcass includes at least one inner ply which is wound around an annular bead member and extends radially outward towards the crown forming a turnup end. The pneumatic tire further includes a rubber apex located radially outward of the bead and having a radially outer end. The turnup end is located radially outward of the rubber apex and located axially outward of a reinforcement member having a first end and a second end, the first end being positioned adjacent the apex, the second end being radially outward of the apex outer end.
