Abstract:
To provide tires having good wet skid resistance, low rolling resistance, and good wear characteristics, tires reduced in rolling resistance and improved in treadwear characteristics, and tires having treads for promoting traction on snowy surfaces.SOLUTION: The present invention is directed to a pneumatic tire having a tread comprising a vulcanizable rubber composition comprising, based on 100 pts.wt. of elastomer (phr): (A) about 20 to about 100 phr of a solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber having a glass transition temperature (Tg) in the range from -85°C to -50°C; (B) 0 to about 40 phr of a natural rubber or synthetic polyisoprene; (C) 0 to about 30 phr of cis-1,4-polybutadiene having a Tg from -110°C to -90°C; (D) 0 to 50 phr of a process oil; (E) 20 to 80 phr of a hydrocarbon resin having a Tg of at least 30°C; and (F) 90 to 150 phr of silica.SELECTED DRAWING: None
