Title:
POLARIZED LIGHT-EMITTING BODY AND METHOD OF EMITTING POLARIZED LIGHT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3138734
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polarized light-emitting body which absorbs non-polarized light and emits polarized light to increase emission efficiency by laminating a polysilane having orientation on a polysilane having no orientation.
SOLUTION: A highly oriented polysilane to be used includes insoluble polydimethylsilane, polydiethylsilane, polydipropylsilane and the like, each usually having weight average molecular weight of not less than 5,000 from which a highly orientated film is obtained by means of a mechanical deposition. A lowly orientated film material to be used is a soluble polysilane having a repeat unit of a structure represented by the formula wherein R1 and R2 are each an aliphatic group or an aromatic group, both not showing a methyl group, ethyl group or propyl groups at the same time, and the sum of carbon atoms of R1 and R2 is 3-40, preferably 4-25. A laminated film is obtained by spin- coating the lowly orientated polysilane to give a 10-1,000 nm thick film thereof on the 10-40 nm tick film of the highly orientated polysilane. A ratio [A]/[B] of the thickness of the highly orientated film [A] to that of the lowly orientated film [B] is 1-100, preferably 2-20.
