Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a thin polarizing plate wherein the polarizer tends not to crack. Also, to provide a polarizing plate wherein the occurrence of poor appearance is suppressed such as cracks in a polarizer in an environment that repeatedly cycles between high and low temperatures. [Solution] Provided is a polarizing plate formed by mutually laminating a first adhesive layer, a polarizer having a thickness of 10 μm or less, and a first protective film containing a cellulose-based resin. The first protective film has a flaw at least either on the surface of the first protective film opposite the surface facing the polarizer or on the surface of the first protective film facing the polarizer. The flaw has: a length of 0.001 to 500 μm, a width of 0.001 to 500 μm, and a depth of 0.001 to 10 μm; and/or a depth of 0.001 to 10 μm and a surface area of 0.001 to 1.0 mm2.
