To prevent the pollution by mold, moss, etc., by impregnating the surface of an inorganic base material or wood with a treating agent consisting of a specific resin after the water content of the material is reduced to not more than a specific value and subsequently subjecting it to a curing treatment.
After the water content of an inorganic base material (e.g. natural stone such as marble, granite or serpentine, a processed natural stone, a brick, a concrete or a ceramic) or wood (e.g. natural wood or a processed wood) is reduced to not more than 20wt.%, a treating agent consisting of a modified polysiloxane resin having a ladder structure on the surface (e.g. an organic silicon high-polycondensate obtained by condensing tetramethoxysilane, methyltrimethoxysilane, etc., having a ladder structure and of 500-100,000 in an average molecular weight) is impregnated into the surface of the material followed by curing treatment.
