PURPOSE: To obtain a resin compsn. which hardly undergoes yellowing due to γ-ray sterilization and is suitable for medical uses by compounding a polycarbonate resin with a specified amt. of an arom. compd. having an SR group.

CONSTITUTION: This resin compsn. is obtd. by compounding 100 pts.wt. polycarbonate resin with 0.05-3.0 pts.wt. at least one arom. compd. having an SH group (e.g. benzylmercaptan). The compsn. hardly yellows even when irradiated with γ-rays in a dose enough for sterilization. Since blood contained in a medical utensil made of the compsn. does not look dusky, a patient does not feel unpleasantly. The compsn. does not release a bad malador during its processing or use and is very useful for medical utensils and apparatuses.
