To provide a polyester film for a capacitor, superior in film formability, productivity, and various electric characteristics.

The polyester film for a capacitor is a two-axially orientated film of a polyester of a polyethylene terephthalate contg. at least an acid component other than that of terephthalic acid and/or glycol component other than that of ethylene glycol 0.1-10mol%. This improves the film formability i.e., making the film hardly broken and allows a stable film forming for a long time and enables production of very thin films not produced in the prior art, resulting in forming of a polyester film for a capacitor, superior in various electric characteristics (breakdown voltage).
