Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare a new polyethoxylated vitamin E useful as cosmetics, medicines, surface active agents for foods or the like, moisture retaining agents, cell protecting agents or the like.
CONSTITUTION: The compd. of formula I [R is -(CH2CH2O)n-H; (n) is 2 to 100; A is -CH2CH(CH3)- or -CH=C(CH3)-; B is CH3 bonded to the 5-, 7- or 8-position; (m) 1 to 3], is obtd. by reacting a vitamin E of formula III or the ester thereof with ethylene oxide in the presence of a catalyst.
