Abstract:

To obtain a spiro-type polyphenylene compound capable of forming an amorphous thin film capable of providing good emission efficiency, hardly being crystallized at all, and having homogeneity, and further to provide a method for producing the compound.

The polyphenylene compound is represented by formula (1) (wherein, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7 are each independently ≤10C alkyl group). The method for producing the polyphenylene compound comprises: a boron compound of pinacol is Suzuki-coupled with a tetrabromo compound by using a transition metal catalyst (e.g. palladium catalyst) to provide the polyphenylene compound represented by formula (1).
