To provide a polyphenylene sulfide-based filament heat-resistant fabric which maintains the chemical resistance and flame retardancy of the polyphenylene sulfide and simultaneously has high heat and oxidation resistance, especially a strength-retaining rate after the polyphenylene sulfide-based fabric is exposed to heat in the presence of oxygen.
This method for producing the polyphenylene sulfide-based filament heat-resistant fabric which comprises a polyphenylene sulfide having -S- sulfide bonds in an amount of ≥95 atomic %, when the compositions of -S-, -SO2-, and -SO- are compared by ESCA, and has a nonwoven fabric longitudinal strength-retaining rate of ≥70 %, when subjected to a heat acceleration resistance test for 210°C×1200 hr in air, comprises spinning a polyphenylene sulfide having a melt flow rate of 50 to 300 g/10 min at 315.6°C under a load of 5 kg for 10 min, forming a fabric from the fibers, and then drawing the fabric at a temperature above a glass transition temperature.
