NEW MATERIAL:Title compounds of formula I (n is integer of 1W4; a, b are H or a bond between a and b is formed; R1, R2 are H, lower alkyl, phenyl, or they may form 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring together with the adjacent nitrogen atom).
EXAMPLE: 3,7,11,15-Tetramethyl-2,6,10,14-hexadecatetraene amide.
USE: Treatment for hepatic disorders: they are of low toxicity and show ameliorative and pyrophylactic effects on hepatic disorders.
PREPARATION: The Wittig's reagent that is derived from a compound of formula III (X is halogen) is made to act on a compound of formula II to give the compound of formula I. The Wittig's reagent is, e.g., a compound of formula IV (R is alkyl), which is derived from a compound of formula III and trialkyl phosphite. In the reaction, a basic reagent such as butyllithium is added in general.
