To provide a polyrotaxane with a reduced amount of cyclic molecules, soluble in a solvent, a method for producing the polyrotaxane, and a crosslinked polyrotaxane by using the polyrotaxane with the reduced amount of the cyclic molecules.
The polyrotaxane with the reduced amount of the cyclic molecules comprises the cyclic molecules, a linear molecule clathrating the cyclic molecules in a skewer shape, and sealing groups arranged at both terminals of the linear molecule and for preventing the cyclic molecules from being separated, wherein the clathration amount of the cyclic molecules is 0.06-0.17 when the maximum clathration amount which is the maximum amount of the cyclic molecules to be clathrated is 1. The molecular weight of the linear molecule is 1,000-5,000. The linear molecule is a polyethylene glycol or a polycaprolactone. The crosslinked polyrotaxane is obtained by binding polymers with the polyrotaxane with the reduced amount of the cyclic molecules through the cyclic molecule.
