PURPOSE: The titled composition that is made by impregnating porous particles of polyvinyl chloride with a polymer of acrylic or methacrylic alkyl ester having an alkyl group of a specific carbon number, followed by polymerization, thus being used for composite materials, because of its good flowing properties, high heat resistance and thermal stability.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Porous particles of polyvinyl chloride (100pts.wt.), preferably obtained by suspension polymerization of vinyl chloride only or a mixture thereof with other monomers, are impregnated with 2W20pts. of acrylic alkyl ester polymer composed of (B) 90W60wt% of an acrylic alkyl ester having 4W18, preferably 6W18C alkyl and (C) 10W40wt% of a methacrylic alkyl ester having 1W 4C alkyl where B+C/A is 2/100W20/100 by weight, and a polymerization initiator, and two-stage polymerization is effected where C is added, when the conversion of B reaches 50W90%, to give the objective composition. The resultant composition (100pts.wt.) is combined with an inorganic filler such as barium carbonate (2W100pts.) and, when necessary, other additives, then processed.
