To provide a portable apparatus surely preventing reverse insertion of a battery in a low price.
The battery 25 has almost a cuboid shape. The battery 25 has a hole 31 formed on a counter surface 25a countering the inner surface 20a of a battery lid 20 when it is inserted into a battery chamber 26 in the normal direction. The hole 31 is formed in the position shifted from the center of the counter surface 25 to the inserting direction. A projection 32 is formed in the position corresponding to the hole 31 on the inner surface 20a of the battery lid 20. When the battery 25 is inserted in the normal direction and the battery lid 20 is turned toward a closing position, the projection 32 enters the hole 31 and can be turned to the closing position, and when the battery 25 is inserted in the direction other than the normal direction, the projection 32 comes in contact with a portion other than the hole 31 and the battery lid 20 cannot be turned to the closing position.
