To enable execution of stand-up reading with a feel of stability by a method wherein one side part of a portable case for a book or others having a pocket and the other side part of the case are fitted in engagement, on one side thereof, on the surface of the case and are made a gusset part and a hand insertion part is provided on the gusset part of the case.

One side part 1a of a portable case for a book or others having a pocket 3 with covering flaps so designed as to hold as many small articles as possible and the other side part 1b of the case are fitted in engagement, on one side thereof, on the surface of the case and are made a gusset part and a hand insertion part 4 is provided on the gusset part of the case. Besides, a pocket being opened and closed by a fastener is provided on the face of the case on the opposite side to that fitted with the pocket 3 with the covering flaps and thereby the whole surface can be made to be used as pockets. A fastener 2 is sewn to the opening-closing part of one side part 1a of the case and the other side part 1b thereof. Insertion parts for the book and others are provided inside one side part 1a of the case and the other side part 1b thereof respectively and, moreover, flat rubber sheets for retaining the book or others are stretched over the inside. A writing implement support part is provided on one side inside the other side part 1b of the case.
