Abstract:
To enable a fault in an acceleration sensor mounted in a portable device or a change of sensor characteristics to be easily detected.SOLUTION: The direction of gravity is detected on the basis of the outputs in three axis directions of an acceleration sensor mounted in a portable device and, when a radio wave from a vehicle is received, a radio wave direction that is the direction in which the radio wave has arrived is detected. Meanwhile, when the angle between the radio wave direction and the gravity direction is within a prescribed angle range, it is determined that the outputs in three axis directions of the acceleration sensor all are normal. Thus, it is possible to easily detect a fault in the acceleration sensor and a change of sensor characteristics. As a result, it is made possible to secure the reliability of outputs of the acceleration sensor, and to safely utilize a function that uses the outputs of the acceleration sensor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
