To provide a portable image pickup device, provided with an optical communication function and an image pickup function and to provide a common transparent cover member for a camera part and an optical communication part for reducing the number of parts and the man-hours for assembling.

In a wrist type portable image pickup device 1, a device body 2 is provided with wristbands 3 and 4 and is further provided with a camera part 6 and an optical communication part 7. More specifically, the device body 2 is provided with the camera part 6 and the optical communication part 7 closely side by side, and a transparent cover member 21, which covers these camera part 6 and optical communication part 7 in common is provide. A shutter operation member 23 is arranged apart from the camera part 6 and the optical communication part 7, and a data display part 22 is arranged between the shutter operation member 23 and the camera part 6 as well as the optical communication part 7. The wristband 3 is so arranged turnably down to the bottom of the device main body 2.
