PURPOSE: To prevent the corrosion and abrasion of an electrode by a fluid to be heated and provide a positive characteristic thermistor excellent in quick heating property with less heat loss.
CONSTITUTION: A PTC thermistor 1 has a comb-tooth positive electrode 3 and negative electrode 4 formed on the outer circumferential wall surface 2a of a cylindrical thermistor element 2. The comb-tooth positive electrode 3 and negative electrode 4 adjacent to each other circumferentially through an electrode-to-electrode gap L1 are formed of base parts 3a, 4a and comb-tooth parts 3b, 4b. The base part 3a and 4a are electrically connected to both the electrodes of a power source 8. When a fluid such as a fuel or a window washing solution is heated, a determined voltage is applied to the positive electrode 3 and the negative electrode 4, and the fluid is passed through a through hole 5 formed in the axial direction of the thermistor element 2.
