To avoid such a carry-over phenomenon that part of powder supplied into flames of a powder melting burner is moved outside the flames, mixed into exhaust gas as un-melted and discharged outside a furnace.
The powder melting burner 10 individually injects powder, fuel and oxygen through a burner head 30 into the furnace for melting the powder in flames where the fuel is burnt under the support of the oxygen. It comprises a single powder injection hole 12 provided in the center of the burner head 30, a plurality of fuel injection holes 14 arranged around the powder injection hole 12 at required center angles in the radial direction, single primary oxygen injection holes 16 concentrically provided in the fuel injection holes 14, respectively, and a plurality of secondary oxygen injection holes 18 annularly formed as a whole and arranged in numbers at required intervals to encircle the powder injection hole 12 and the fuel injection holes 14.
