To provide a powder for a rare-earth magnet which improves oxidation resistance of a rare-earth element-containing alloy powder, and to provide the powder for the rare-earth magnet with improved magnetic properties and the rare-earth magnet using this powder.
The powder for the rare-earth magnet contains 100 pts.wt. rare-earth element-containing alloy powder and 0.01-1.0 pts.wt. poly(α-methyl styrene). Preferably, the poly(α-methyl styrene) is a binder wherein 0.01-1.0 pts.wt. poly(α-methyl styrene) is dissolved in 10-50 pts.wt. N,N- dimethylacetamide. The rare-earth magnet is produced by molding the powder for the rare-earth magnet and subsequently subjecting it to binder removal treatment in a vacuum or hydrogen atmosphere and sintering it.
