To provide an electric power generation controller capable of controlling a storage battery, which is loaded on a vehicle, not to be put in an over-charging or over-discharging state even when the allowable input/output range of the storage battery is put in a narrow state.
The electric power generation controller of a vehicle, equipped with an electric power generator for generating electric power by the driving of an internal combustion engine and configured to travel with a power from an electrical motor to be driven by using the storage battery as an electric power source, includes: a request output calculation part for calculating an output requested to the electrical motor; a storage battery output setting part for, when prescribed conditions are satisfied by the state of the storage battery, deriving the allowable input/output range of the storage battery corresponding to the charging state of the storage battery, and for setting an output value within the allowable input/output range to be output to the electrical motor by the storage battery with respect to the output requested to the electrical motor; a request torque deriving part for calculating, as the target output of the electric power generator, a value obtained by subtracting the output value of the storage battery from the output requested to the electrical motor, and for deriving the torque of an internal combustion engine requested for the electrical motor to output the target output; and a control part for controlling the operation of the internal combustion engine according to the request torque with respect to the internal combustion engine.
