To develop an improved durable mechanism for limiting deflection of a shaft with a high allowable degree.
An apparatus limits deflection of an armature shaft 38 of an electrically powered tool such as a hand held saw 10 or a drill. The armature shaft 38 of the saw 10 extends as a cantilever from a motor 14, and has joining parts 58, 60 by a gear to an arbor 44 for driving a saw blade 18. The apparatus for limiting deflection of the armature shaft 38 has a pilot member 72, a socket 68 and a motor housing supported wall respectively joined to one and the other of the armature shaft. The socket 68 is larger in a cross section than a cross section of the pilot member 72, and limits traverse deflection of the armature shaft 38 away from a rotary shaft.
