To provide precursor powder of a metal-coated superconductive wire capable of lessening variations of shapes of respective cores (filaments) after drawing a multi-core material, thereby restraining a sausage phenomenon that the filaments are waved in the longitudinal direction and a bridging phenomenon that the filaments are stuck to each other without via silver coating, wherein these phenomena cause reduction of a critical current value at a stage of a final product.
The precursor powder of a metal-coated superconductive wire consists of mother powder made of oxide powder including Bi, Pb, Sr, Ca and Cu, and metal Ag powder wherein the average particle diameter is one half or below of the average particle diameter of the mother powder.
