Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide a biodegradable molding having good water solubility, water dispersibility and flexibility and having excellent small preservability, oil resistance, etc., by melt-molding a composition comprising an oxyalkylene group-containing vinyl alcohol polymer and a natural polymer. CONSTITUTION:(A) A vinyl alcohol polymer containing 3-40wt.% of oxyalkylene units and (B) a natural polymer (e.g. starch polymer) are compounded with each other in a weight ratio of 90:10 to 10:90, preferably 80:20 to 30:70, and subsequently melt-molded under plasticizer-free and anhydrous conditions. The molding has sufficient strength and other characteristics when used, but can be rapidly degraded by microorganisms living in soil or water after the object of use is achieved.
