To prepare the subject solution useful as a single raw material when mixing an iodide into silver bromide crystal without using harmful solvent by reacting hydrated dimethylamine bromide with silver iodide.
Hydrated dimethylamine bromide is reacted with silver iodide to prepare the objective solution. For example, dimethylamine bromide is hydrated with water so that a molar ratio of water/amine is 1-2 and silver iodide is introduced so that a molar ratio of amine/silver is ≥13 and these components are mixed while heating these components at the temperature of steam bath, and heating treatment of the solution is stopped when transparent colorless solution is observed and the solution is cooled to room temperature to prepare the objective solution. The objective solution is introduced into silver bromide emulsion to attain mixing of an iodide into silver bromide crystal. Thereby, dislocation of the iodide can be carried out and variation amounts every batch and size can be minimized under low supersaturation conditions and scale ability is improved.
