PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a curing agent for a polyurethane resin having improved weather resistance easily and efficiently, by isocyanurating a diisocyanate compound to give a polyisocyanate, modifying it with a specific diol.
CONSTITUTION: A diisocyanate compound selected from an alkylene diisocyanate, cycloalkylene diisocyanate and aralkylene diisocyanate is isocyanurated in the presence of a catalyst (e.g., quaternary N, Na, etc.) at 30W120°C, and the unreacted remaining diisocyanate compound is removed to give a polyisocyanate. It is then reacted with a diol (e.g., ethylene glycol) having 50W500 molecular weight, which may have ≤2 hydrocarbon substitutent groups in one molecule at room temperature W100°C, to give the aimed substance.
