PURPOSE: To obtain molding material for buttons having depth and scroll by a method wherein a plurality of sheets different in color are wound in multiple layers to make a cylindrical block, the block is extended in the axial direction to obtain the button diameter and sliced to the thickness of the button in the diametrical direction.

CONSTITUTION: Mixture 1 of thermosetting resin molding material mixed with a suitable amount of pigment is rolled in the form of sheet and cut to the desired size. Several sheets 2 different in color obtained in this manner are laminated, wound up in a cylindrical form to obtain a cylindrical block 3 and stored at the fixed room temperature for 10W12hr and matured. Then, the block 3 is inserted into a plunger type extruder having a die 11 with a band heater 10 and extruded to be expanded up to the sectional shape and the sectional diameter fitting to the shape and diameter of the button. This extruded material is sliced by a cutter to the thickness suitable to the thickness of the button to obtain the molding material for a button patterned with a tablet.
