Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare a new heterocyclic aromatic carbamate compound useful for detecting a minute amount of an amine-functional compound.
CONSTITUTION: The carbamate compound is a compound represented by the formula (wherein Ar-NH is a heterocyclic aromatic amine), such as 6- aminoquinolyl-N-hydroxysuccinimidylcarbamate. Such a compound represented by the formula is prepared by allowing a heterocyclic aromatic amine compound such as (substituted)aminoquinoline, (substituted)aminocoumarin, (substituted) aminoacridine, or the like, to react with di-(N-sccucinimidyl) carbonate. The compound represented by the formula is useful for derivatizing an amine- functional compound such as amino acid or peptide, in order to label its molecule with a fluorescent group. At this time, since the heterocyclic aromatic moiety has a high fluorescence quantum yield, any amine-functional compound existing at a trace amount level can easily be detected and accordingly, the carbamate compound represented by the formula is particularly useful for detecting and measuring the amount of an amine-functional compound such as amino acid or peptide, that exists at a minute amount level such as femtomole level.
